Reward
The Thomasian Welcome Walk & Party were cancelled (until futher notice, I believe). Frustration goes well with company, however. A friend & I had a carefree late lunch while the world around us slowly drowned. I’m exaggerating, of course. For the first time, I waded through the seasonal knee-deep waters of Sampaloc. It was an interesting experience, walking through the flood alone with Tina Arena’s “Sorrento Moon” playing over & over in my head. I saw some Thomasians (some of which were familiar faces) shooting along Espana as I walked the final intersection before home. There was an urge to shoot, but I was never comfortable bringing out my camera in such places. The great Espana river would have given me the long-exposure that I’ve always wanted, but then again, I didn’t have a tripod with me. All in all, it took me 4-5 hours to get home.
This view of UST from my place felt like a reward; it was breathtaking when I finished my 120 sec. exposure, but it was saddening at the same time, seeing monobloc chairs practically floating in the flood waters.
